Software AG’s SOA technology with

ServiceWare.
According to the VeNotion website, ServiceWare,
consists of an automated business services and related IT
assets models, assuring software components and SOA services are
organized and managed by business context.
The company’s VeN4 ServiceWare™,

High demand for Mellanox Technologies’ virtualization solutions
Mellanox Technologies Ltd., a semiconductor-based server and
storage interconnect solutions provider, announced yesterday that since the January release of its InfiniBand drivers for VMware ESX 3.5, it has received a sharp increase in demand and inquiries from “partners, and end-users from multiple
enterprise data center vertical markets”. The drivers are drawing interest primarily for their ability to consolidate I/O adapters and, as a result, minimize the set-up process in virtualized environments.
According to the news release, Mellanox’s consolidation claims have drawn “heavy interest from
Fortune 500 companies” interested in “the ability to immediately save I/O power (up
to 30%) and I/O cost (up to 50%).”
To back up claims about its drivers performance capabilities, Mellanox will be showcasing its InfiniBand drivers in action at VMworld Europe 2008 this week. VMworld Europe is led by VMware (Virtual Machine ware) and is a key conference for business and IT professionals on “virtual technology and business solutions.”
VMware’s website defines virtualization (also termed “cloud computing” by IBM and Google) as letting,
one computer do the job of multiple
computers, by sharing the resources of a single computer across
multiple environments. Virtual servers and virtual desktops lets you
host multiple operating systems and multiple applications locally and
in remote locations, freeing you from physical and geographical
limitations. In addition to energy savings and lower capital expenses
due to more efficient use of your hardware resources, you get high
availability of resources, better desktop management, increased
security, and improved disaster recovery processes when you build a
virtual infrastructure.

N-trig raises funds to continue developing pen and touch technology
Israeli company, N-trig has successfully raised $28 million from venture capitalist firms, Canaan Partners and Evergreen
Venture Partners, among other investors, in its latest fund-raising round and will use part of it to further develop its advanced pen and touch technology.
N-trig is best known as the provider of DuoSense™
technology that “combines pen and zero-pressure touch for mobile computers
into a single device.” According to the N-trig website,
N-trig provides a
true hands-on computingTM experience, by enabling OEMs and ODMs to provide innovative
new technology for the next generation of mobility by making notebook

PLYmedia gets reply
In the past few months, several start-ups focused on video overlay products and solutions have made headlines. Last week, Globes reported that Activity and Decision Management solution provider, ActionBase Corp. raised $1.7 million from venture capital firms Giza and Vertex as part of its $6.5 million third financing round.

Runcom Technologies contibutes to new VoIP phone
A news release on PRNewswire has announced that Runcom Technologies Ltd. has jointly developed a VoIP portable telephone with Japanese companies NetIndex Inc. and Kaga Electronics Co., Ltd. using the company’s WiMAX (IEEE802.16e) data communications module. The phone was first unveiled at the 2008 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this week.
According to Runcom’s website, the Israel-based company is a WiMAX chipset manufacturer that
“develops superior technological standards and
products that target the emerging Beyond 3G market, enabling the
delivery of enhanced communications services to cellular phones and
other mobile devices.”
While the company has focused on the Digital Interactive TV and Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) markets in the past, its entrance into mobile Wireless MAN services will allow it to play a role in the cellular
